A useful meeting note should help you remember what happened and decide what to do next. Choosing an app also means deciding where that conversation gets processed and who needs access afterwards.

lilKiTTY records meetings and voice notes with encrypted on-device audio and on-device transcription.[1] Notion AI Meeting Notes combines transcription and summaries inside its account-based workspace, with cloud processing and page-based sharing.[2]

We are lilMONSTER, the maker of lilKiTTY. This comparison covers lilKiTTY 1.8.1 and Notion's documented meeting-note workflows, using sources accessed on 17 October 2026. It is not a hands-on accuracy test or an independent review. We have not ranked transcription quality, speed or reliability.

The short answer

Choose lilKiTTY if your priority is recording and transcribing without a lilKiTTY account or cloud processing of your audio and transcripts.[1] It supports iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with instant capture on Watch.[1]

Choose Notion if meeting records need to sit within your team's Notion workflow. Its summaries can use agenda notes alongside the transcript, include citations back to transcript lines, and connect with Notion Calendar.[2] Those are useful reasons to stay with it.

Check eligibility before choosing Notion: its help describes Business or Enterprise access, or an eligible mobile subscription that includes Notion AI.[2] We are not comparing prices here.

A fair comparison at a glance

These rows compare documented workflows, not performance scores. Notion's capture methods differ by platform; a desktop capability should not be assumed to work identically on mobile.[2]

Where your meeting gets processed

lilKiTTY: on-device audio and transcription

lilKiTTY's released workflow keeps audio and transcript processing out of the cloud.[1] It records encrypted audio on-device, transcribes after saving, and does not require an account or use analytics.[1]

Apple Intelligence can provide titles and enhancement where available.[1] That availability condition matters: do not assume every device has the same AI features. The live-transcript claim also has a specific boundary, iOS 26 or later.[1]

For someone choosing an app primarily around processing location, these are concrete facts to compare. They do not establish that every possible use is legally compliant, or that local storage removes the need to protect the device and manage access.

Notion: cloud processing with documented controls

Notion's documentation says live desktop and browser audio goes to external subprocessors.[2] Failed real-time processing can trigger an upload to Notion for retries, retained for up to three days.[2] Mobile recordings upload to Notion before transcription; after successful mobile processing, the uploaded audio is deleted immediately.[2]

Notion also documents optional local retention of the ten most recent recordings on the recorder's device.[2] Keeping a local recording does not make the transcription process on-device.

It is important to acknowledge Notion's policy protections too. Notion says customer data is not used for model training by default.[3] That is a meaningful policy commitment, but it answers a different question from where processing happens. Cloud processing and model-training permission should not be treated as interchangeable.

Turning a conversation into a useful record

Imagine a routine project check-in. Before starting, decide whether you need a personal record, a team reference, or both. That choice helps more than a long feature checklist.

With lilKiTTY, meeting templates, folders and related meetings can help organise the record.[1] When it is time to act, tasks, reminders and calendar events are created only after you confirm.[1] If you want to review a proposed follow-up before creating it, that confirmation step is a reason to consider lilKiTTY.

Notion has a strong documented workflow for connecting a summary to its evidence. Clicking a summary citation takes you to the relevant transcript line, and summaries can consider notes supplied before recording.[2] Its built-in and custom summary instructions support different meeting types.[2]

For a team evaluating an AI-generated account of a discussion, those transcript links are a useful reason to choose Notion.[2] We are not claiming lilKiTTY has an equivalent feature.

Sharing deserves a deliberate decision too. Notion notes follow their page's permissions, and optional auto-sharing can grant internal event participants access.[2] Review those settings rather than assuming a meeting record is visible only to its recorder. For either workflow, check the final record before treating a suggested deadline or decision as agreed.

Ask before recording or transcribing

Before capture starts, explain what will be recorded, whether transcription or AI processing is involved, who will receive the result and how long you intend to keep it. Ask everyone involved. If someone objects, stop and use ordinary notes.

This is our conservative recording recommendation, not a statement that every jurisdiction has the same consent rule. Check applicable law and workplace policy. Australia's privacy regulator discusses AI meeting minutes and recommends seeking consent as best practice because meeting content can be unpredictable.[4]

Notion provides text and spoken consent messages, and workspace owners can enforce an automatic message.[2] A message is useful support for the conversation, not a substitute for checking your obligations.

Who should pick which

Pick lilKiTTY if on-device transcription, encrypted on-device audio and account-free use matter most to you.[1] It also suits someone who wants Watch capture and a confirmation step before creating tasks, reminders or calendar events.[1]

Pick Notion if your team needs meeting notes governed by Notion page permissions, transcript-linked summaries and connections to Notion Calendar.[2] For that shared workspace use case, we would favour Notion. Its documented evidence links and sharing controls are relevant strengths, not details to overlook because we make another app.[2]

If you already use Notion and its processing model fits your requirements, this comparison is not a reason to migrate. Choose around a specific unmet need.

FAQ

Is lilKiTTY a replacement for Notion AI Meeting Notes?

It can be an alternative for recording and transcribing meetings on Apple devices.[1] Do not assume it replaces every workspace workflow. Notion documents page permissions, calendar connections and transcript-linked summaries; those may be central to your team's needs.[2]

Does Notion AI Meeting Notes transcribe on-device?

Its documentation describes cloud processing, including external subprocessors for live desktop and browser audio, and upload before mobile transcription.[2] Optional local audio retention is separate from transcription location.[2]

Does lilKiTTY need an account or cloud transcription?

No. lilKiTTY 1.8.1 requires no account and does not use cloud processing for audio or transcripts.[1] That is the processing claim here, not a blanket promise about every device setting or destination you might choose for information.

Can Notion capture meetings on mobile?

Yes, mobile capture is documented.[2] However, mobile cannot directly capture another app's call audio. If the other participants are audible only through headphones, that is an important limitation; desktop microphone-and-system-audio capture is a different workflow.[2]

Which app produces more accurate meeting notes?

This comparison does not establish an accuracy winner. A fair test would use the same authorised conversation and check names, decisions and follow-ups against what was actually said. Do not mistake a polished summary for a verified record.
